Can we be honest?
We had no idea if anyone would actually come to our party. When we started planning for our first in-person event, Summer is for the Locals, we thought, if we were really successful, maybe we could get 100 people together at Champs to celebrate the start of summer. And if not? Well, we’d learn a lot and try again!
But people started to talk, the momentum started to build, and this past Friday, approximately 400 locals came to hang out with us!
So many great neighbors gathered in one place (and so much good food! Did you try the sliders?! We can’t say a big enough thank you to Champs Downtown for spoiling us with the ultimate app spread!)

So… should we do it again?!
Lots of people asked if we were going to be hosting more events (or, we should say, co-hosting them with awesome local businesses!) What do you think? If you were in attendance (or if you wish you had been!), let us know what you’d like to see for future “Townie Takeover” events.

New merch alert!
If you did join us for the party on Friday, you probably saw that we launched brand new merch! (“Summer in State College”-themed of course.) Behind the scenes at the merch table, we overheard a lot of love for the new black muscle tee! You can check out all of the new gear, available in several colors, here.

So much local pride!
We are so grateful to everyone who came out to celebrate the start of State College summer with us! An extra special thanks to Champs Downtown for being such generous partners and hosts, the State College Redevelopment Authority for their enduring and enthusiastic support, and the Downtown State College Improvement District for their help with promotion and donation of $150 in gift cards for our bingo winners!
We left the event feeling so proud to live in such a vibrant town with so many talented, kind, and interesting neighbors. One of our favorite quotes of the night, from an event-goer, was, “I can live anywhere I want. And I do.”
It feels pretty good to have the whole summer ahead of us to enjoy the beautiful trails, wonderful restaurants, great small businesses, and all of the things that make living here so worthwhile.
Thanks again to everyone who made the night a total blast!
See you at the next one?!
