After growing up in small PA towns Emporium and Dubois and then graduating from Penn State with a degree in advertising, Maria Barton worked for agencies in Chicago and Manhattan. When the long hours and commute started to take a toll after a few years, she and her husband, Zach, (and puppy Sammi!) decided to move closer to home.
State College and the surrounding area are home to plenty of amazing restaurants, but when our kids were really little, going to a restaurant felt oddly like a lot of work. We learned quickly that dinner parties at home offered a lot of perks.
Each park in State College has its own vibe. But there’s only one park with an iconic covered bridge and a babbling creek.
This time, we’re highlighting what it can look like to build a thriving community here in Happy Valley – and how to go about doing just that!
State College was, and is, a bodacious, totally radical place to live.
The soft spot I had for this town that carried over from my college days visiting friends here has transformed into a deep respect for a community that’s getting better all the time.
Flights out of State College are typically pricier than Pittsburgh, Philly, or Harrisburg, but it’s wonderful to have the option to treat yourself to this ultra-convenient way to travel.
Wow. October has been filled with so many experiences I’ve wanted to share with you! To start us off, here are 5 things that have pleasantly surprised me this month, in no particular order.
